The fifty-first question in our catechism is:
“Should we acknowledge the authority of the Pope?”
The answer is:
“By no means. The Bishop of Rome has no authority in England. Nor is he the Vicar of Christ or successor of Peter, but rather is believed by many to be the predicted “Man of Lawlessness,” who sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”
