What is meant by the sacrament of Penance and why should it be rejected?

November 16, 2025 Day 320
The forty-sixth question in our catechism is:
“What is meant by the sacrament of Penance and why should it be rejected?”
The answer is:
“It is claimed that, in this sacrament, sins are forgiven by the priest’s absolution, together with contrition, confession and satisfaction. However, repentance and faith are the only conditions of forgiveness which God has appointed.”
cf. Mark 1:15; Luke 24:47; Acts 10:43; Acts 13:38; Acts 20:21; Romans 3:25.
