What is the status of the Book of Homilies?

The fifty-second question in our catechism is:
“What is the status of the Book of Homilies?”
The answer is:
“The Book of Homilies contains godly and wholesome doctrine. It was necessary for the times in which it was written, and was therefore to be read in churches, diligently and distinctly, so that people could understand it.”
